The re-appropriation of coastal material within assemblage and projection, is central to my practice. An engagement with the physicality of finding and working with the given material is integral to the production of work. Perhaps on a subconscious level, I am trying to retain a link to my fore-bearers who were employed within the fishing industry. Material often occupies space in a suspended state, floating and rotating, alluding to the constant movement of sky, sea and sand. The projected works seek to convey naturally occurring phenomena found within the coastal landscape.
